Montoya comes to WT following two standout years at Pima JC (Arizona) where she played numerous positions for the Aztecs under the guidance of Armando Quiroz. Montoya continues the strong ties with the Pima program as former Lady Buffs Mercedes Garcia, Adriana Garcia and Jessica Sipe along with current teammate Stacey Ramirez all played for the Aztecs before great careers in Canyon. The Las Cruces native helped the Aztecs to a 46-14 record this past spring and a second place finish in the NJCAA II Region 1 Tournament, As a sophomore in 2015 she compiled a .313 average in 57 games while posting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with no errors in 225 defensive chances behind the dish.
 
High School:
Montoya registered a strong prep career Las Cruces HS (New Mexico) where she was a four-year starter for the Bulldawgs under head coach Will Garcia. As a senior, she led the Bulldawgs to the Class 5A State Championship and received her team's Greatest BullDawg honor. Montoya was a 2nd Team All-State selection and received 1st Team All-District honors twice. She helped LCHS to three District Championships on the diamond while lettering in basketball and volleyball where she was an All-District selection as well.
 
Personal:
Born September 17th. Montoya is the daughter of Michael and Caryn Montoya and she has three siblings: Joaguin, Jonn and Jacinto. She is majoring in Education at West Texas A&M with a minor in Early Childhood Education.
