Biography

2022-23 (Sophomore): Nielsen saw time in nine games with one start to average 6.0 minutes per game… Brought down four (0.4) rebounds with three coming on defense… Scored four points and made three steals on the season…

2021-22 (Freshman): The freshman made appearances in 22 games averaging 7.3 minutes per contest… He shot 65.6 percent from the floor and 33.3 percent from the free throw line totaling 44 points on the season… He finished with 21 total rebounds with 12 coming on defense to go along with five assists and eight steals… Went 7-for-9 from the floor to score a season-high 15 points against Champions College (12/13) with a career-high seven rebounds… 

2020-21 (Freshman): Made an immediate impact as a freshman appearing in 17 games including seven starts. Averaged 2.5 points, 1.2 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game shooting 53.1 percent from the floor, 35.7 percent from 3-point range and 60.0 percent from the free throw line. Also had 20 rebounds, 11 assists and eight steals. Made his first career start on Feb. 4 against Angelo State scoring nine points on 3-of-4 shooting from 3-point range. Had a season-high five rebounds in a win over Oklahoma Christian on Feb. 13. Scored two points in the National Championship game against Northwest Missouri State. 

Prescott High School: Graduated in 2020. Two-time Middle Border Conference Player of the Year. Had an outstanding senior year where he was named the Middle Border Conference Player of the Year after averaging 28 points, 5.2 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 2.1 steals per game. He also earned 1st Team All-State and All-Conference honors after leading the Cardinals to a Conference and Regional title before the season was canceled. Was named the Middle Border Conference Player of the Year during as a junior after averaging 25.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Was part of a state championships team in 2017. Member of National Honor Society. Also lettered in football. 
 
Personal: Born on July 12, 2001. Son of Julie and Greg Nielsen. Has one sibling. Undecided on a major at WT.
