Biography

2021: Played in all 11 games for the Buffs in 2021, finishing the season with 18 total tackles (eight solo, 10 assisted) with 2.5 of those coming for a loss. Registered a season-high five tackles against Colorado School of Mines.

2020: Played in the final three games of the season including starts against North American and Pittsburg State. Recorded 15 tackles, 1.5 sacks and a tackle for loss. Recorded a career-high eight tackles in the Buffs’ season finale against PSU. Also had four tackles in the Buffs’ win over Angelo State at Buffalo Stadium on Oct. 24. 

2019: Appeared in 10 games including eight starts where he recorded 29 tackles (9 solo, 20 assisted), one tackle for loss, 0.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries. Recorded a season-high five tackles in WT’s win over Eastern New Mexico on Oct. 26. Recorded his first career sack against Texas A&M-Commerce. 

2018: Redshirt.

Austin High School: Was an all-district player on both sides of the ball for head coach Mike Rosenthel. As a senior in 2017, he recorded 85 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, five sacks and three touchdowns en route to earning 1st Team All-District honors for the second time in his career. Also lettered in track & field.
 
Personal: Born on January 22, 2000. Son of Shahola Mata. Has two siblings. Plans on majoring in general business at WT.
