COACH MATTIO ON WHITMORE
"We are thrilled to have Payton join our Lady Buff family," Mattio said.  "Payton is an explosive combo guard who has the ability to play the point guard position or off the ball.  She can handle the ball, attack the basket and will be able to knock down shots from the perimeter.  Payton is feisty and tenacious on the defensive end and plays with a lot of energy and emotion.  She knows what it takes to win at a high level as she helped her team win a state title in high school.  Payton comes from a coaching legacy within her family, as her dad also is a coach.  She understands the game and will do whatever it takes to help her team win. She will flourish in our system and style of play.  We are excited that Payton has chosen to be a Lady Buff."

WEBER STATE (2016-17)
Played last season at Weber State University where she saw action in 17 games for the Wildcats as a freshman ... She shot 35 percent from the field, 37 percent from beyond the arc and went 4-for-4 from the line.

HAMILTON HIGH SCHOOL
Whitmore attended Hamilton High School where she helped lead her team to a 5A state championship in 2016 ... She was a four-time letterwinner and was an AIA-All-Selection honorable mention honoree in 2015 and 2016.

Daughter of Tery and Miranda Whitmore ... Plans on majoring in criminal justice at WT.
