Biography


2010: Witte overcame a midseason injury to become a key figure in the Lady Buff’s run to the South Central Regional Finals in 2010, seeing time in 37 games with 33 starts during her junior season. She finished the season with a .427 batting average with six doubles, three homers and 26 RBI for a slugging percentage of .573. At he beginning of the season, Witte also saw some time in the circle, registering a 4.40 ERA with a 3-2 record with 10 strikeouts in 20.2 innings of work. Her best offensive game came on February 15 against Washburn when she went 4-for-5 at the dish with three RBI, in the circle she went 4.0 innings while only giving up one hit and no runs with three strikeouts against Missouri Southern on February 19 in a 2-1 win. At season’s end, Witte was named a member of the All-Lone Star Conference First Team and the Daktronics All-South Central Region First Team for her efforts on the diamond. She was also honored for her hard work in the classroom with spots on the LSC South Division All-Academic Team and she was named an NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete.

2009:
Witte saw action in 49 games during the season, starting in 48 as a sophomore in 2009. Witte led the Lady Buffs in doubles (15), putouts (245) and fielding double plays (4). She also posted a .616 slugging percentage as well as a .466 on base percentage. Witte tallied a total of 52 hits, six home runs with 45 RBI at the plate. Witte had a fielding percentage of .992 on the season after posting 245 putouts, 11 assists in 258 chances. For the week of April 12, Witte was named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II National Player of the Week after she went 10-for-13 from the plate, including a pair of doubles and two home runs, driving in six runs in the Lady Buffs doubleheader sweeps of Eastern New Mexico and Incarnate Word. Witte also excelled in the classroom, being named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District first team as well as All-LSC South Division Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

2008:
Witte emerged as one of the top hitters in the LSC during her freshman campaign, earning LSC South Division Freshman of the Year and honorable mention All-LSC. She started all 58 games, with 29 at designated player, 24 at first base, five at second base and five in the pitching circle. She led the Lady Buffs in home runs, posted a .582 slugging percentage and a .450 on-base percentage. She also had 35 runs scored, six doubles and was a perfect 3-for-3 on the base path. She connected on her first home run of the season on Feb. 17 during a 1-for-2, three RBI performance against Emporia State. She was selected as the LSC South Hitter of the Week on April 2 for her efforts during the LSC Crossover Tournament, where she had a .440 batting average, with three home runs and 10 RBIs. Witte began the season as on of the top pitchers on the Lady Buff roster, but an injury limited her to only six appearances. She was solid season prior to her injury, registering a 3-2 record with a 3.54 earned run average and 21 strikeouts in 29.2 innings of work. She tossed back-to-back shutouts on Feb. 12, and, on Feb. 17 she threw a one hitter in a five-inning win over UT-Permian Basin.

High School:
Witte attended Midland Lee HS (Texas) where she emerged as an outstanding college prospect in both the pitching circle and in the field. She garnered All-State honors from TGCA three times and twice from Texas Sports Writers Association. She was a three time District 3-5A MVP selection. As a senior, Witte posted a 20-1 pitching record with a .90 ERA and a total of 286 strikeouts. She had a .430 batting average, with six home runs and 40 RBIs. She served as the team captain during her junior and senior seasons. She received the Lee HS Clutch Hitter award all four seasons of her prep career and the Gene Smith Fighting Lady Rebel award in 2007. Witte was also a member of the National Honor Society and Who’s Who Among American High School Students.

Personal:
Witte is the daughter of Gary and DeLynnda Witte. She has one sister, Meghan who is a WTAMU graduate. She is majoring in Sports & Exercise Science and Sports Management at West Texas A&M.
