2009: Couger saw action in 47 games and started as the Lady Buff catcher in 46 of them. She finished the season with a batting average of .317, recording 44 hits, 11 doubles, four home runs and drove in 36 runs. As the everyday catcher for the Lady Buffs, Couger tallied 211 put-outs and 10 assists for a fielding percentage of .995. Couger connected on her first home run of the season against Texas-Permian Basin on February 7th and drove in three RBI[apos]s at the plate. She went a perfect 2-for-2 in a March 16 game against Northwestern Oklahoma scoring two runs and hittingtwo doubles.
2008: Couger started in 46 games and appeared in four other contests as a reserve after missing the entire fall season due to an injury. She finished with a .277 batting average, with 36 hits and 130 at bats. She collected eight extra base hits (six doubles and two home runs) and ended the season with 20 RBIs. Couger enjoyed two of her best performances of the season against Cameron, going 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs on Feb. 18. She followed that up with a 3-for-4, with a double, one home run and three RBIs against the Aggies on March 29. She connected her first long ball of the season on March 8, going 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs against Texas A&M-Kingsville.
2007: Couger appeared in 47 games during her first year and started 43 contests. She finished with a .291 batting average, with 34 hits and 117 at bats. She scored 15 runs and drove in 18 to lead all freshman on the team. She had three home runs during the season. In her first collegiate game on Feb. 2, Couger went 3-for-3 at the plate with three runs scored, three RBIs and two doubles against Texas-Permian Basin. She connected her first home run of her WT career on March 16 at Tarleton State. She tied her career high with three hits and three RBIs in a win over Panhandle State on March 28.
High School: Couger was a standout prep player at William J. Palmer HS, playing both third base and catcher. She was a four time all-metro selection and garnered honorable mention, all-state honors following the 2005 season. She was selected twice to the academic all-state team. Couger ended her career at Palmer as an all time leader in just about every offensive category, except triples and sacrifices. She was a member of the National Honor Society in addition to receiving the Colorado Youth Citizenship award. She also lettered in basketball.
Personal: Couger is the daughter of Tim and Lita Couger. She has one sister, Rebecca.Couger is majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics at WTAMU.
