Jaime Edwards recently completed her first season as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the Lady Buffs.
Edwards came to Canyon following a four-year career at the University of Houston. The Austin, Texas native hit .277 for the Cougars with 18 doubles, one triple, eight homeruns to drive in 67 career RBI for a slugging percentage of .376. She was a standout on the defensive side of the field as well, registering a career fielding percentage of .987 with a program record 64 double plays turned. As a freshman in 2012, she was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team as she started the first 45 games of the season while in ranking second in the league among freshman in batting average (.325), home runs (5) and RBIs (25).
During her career, Edwards and the Cougars made three straight appearances (2012, 2013, 2014) in the NCAA Postseason. Edwards also excelled in the classroom for the Cougars, picking up a pair of American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team selections while being named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll twice.
Edwards registered an impressive prep career at Bowie High School in Austin where she was First Team All-District selection and the team MVP as a junior and senior (2010 and 2011). She was voted an All-State player by the Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) and by the Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA) after she helped the Bulldogs to the Texas 5A State Title Game in 2010. Academically she was a four-time Academic All-District selection while being named Academic All-State in 2011.
