Biography

2020 (Senior):  Played and started in all 23 games before season was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic…  Led the Lady Buffs with a .413 batting average with 26 hits including three doubles and a career-high six home runs for a .746 slugging-percentage… Was responsible for 21 runs… Had a team-high 47 total bases and .506 on-base-percentage with 10 walks… Led team with a career-high 25 RBI… Stole three bases on four attempts… Had a .955 fielding-percentage on 88 chances as a shortstop… Was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 First Team… Had a dominating performance at the LCU Invitational as she hit .750 (9-for-12) with four home runs, two doubles, eight RBIs, eight runs scored, a .769 on-base percentage and a 1.917 slugging percentage… 

2019 (Junior):   Started and played in all 47 games for the Lady Buffs… She earned her third conference award as she was named Second Team All-Lone Star Conference… Recorded a .292 batting average with 33 hits including nine doubles and two homeruns… Registered a .425 slugging-percentage… Totaled a .949 fielding-percentage…  Recorded a career-high four hits against Lubbock Christian (4/26)… Had a career-high four RBI against UC-Colorado Springs (2/10)…  

2018 (Sophomore):
The Canyon High product started all 53 games for the Lady Buffs in the infield, hitting .310 with six doubles, two triples and four homeruns to drive in 19 RBI with 62 total bases for a slugging percentage of .481. Cordell walked 24 times to tie for second most on the team for an on-base clip of .430 while registering 62 putouts and 125 assists defensively with eight errors for a fielding percentage of .959. She was named to the All-Lone Star Conference Second Team for her efforts on the diamond.

2017 (Freshman):
Cordell had a breakout freshman campaign for the Lady Buffs as the local product stepped into a starting role at shortstop and never looked back, coming one of the top middle infielders in the South Central Region. The Canyon native hit .409 on the season with six doubles, one triple and three homeruns to drive in 15 RBI to go along with 15 walks and an on-base percentage of .527. Cordell registered 52 putouts and 86 assists with just three errors for a fielding clip of .979. Cordell was named a Second Team All-Lone Star Conference selection for her efforts on the diamond.

At Canyon High School:
Cordell completed a standout prep career at nearby Canyon High School (Texas) where she played shortstop and second base for the Lady Eagles under head coach Nicole Coffee. As a senior in 2016, Cordell hit .517 with 15 doubles and seven homeruns to drive in 40 RBI for a slugging percentage of .833 while stealing 10 bases and setting a new CHS record for HBP’s with 10 for an on-base percentage of .605. She was named the District 3-5A Most Valuable Player while picking up TGCA All-State accolades as the Lady Eagles went 30-8 with an appearance in the Regional Finals while claiming their second straight District 3-5A Title.

As a junior, Cordell was named the Amarillo Globe News Softball Athlete of the Year while leading the Lady Eagles to the Regional Semifinals. She also lettered in basketball for two seasons at CHS, claiming the 2014 Texas 5A State Championship under legendary head coach Joe Lombard. In the classroom, Cordell was a TGCA Academic All-State selection while finishing Top-10 in her graduating class while serving as a member of the National Honor Society.
 
Personal:
Born August 13th. Cordell is the daughter of Cole and Tonya Cordell and she has two siblings, Haly and Ryan. She is majoring in Mathematics at West Texas A&M with a minor in Education.
