Biography

2017 (Junior);
Smith, a 1st Team All-Lone Star Conference selection, has proven herself as one of the top hitters in all of Division II Softball during her career in Maroon & White as the Flower Mound product is a three-time All-American. She hit .410 as a junior with 19 doubles, one triple and seven homeruns to drive in 51 RBI with 110 total bases for a slugging percentage of .663 to go along with 21 walks and just 17 strikeouts for an on-base clip of .474. Smith was named a First Team All-American by the D2CCA while picking up Second Team accolades by the NFCA.

2016 (Sophomore):
Smith continued to prove why she’s one of the best designated players in all of NCAA Division II Softball as a sophomore in 2016, hitting .358 with 12 doubles and six homeruns to drive in 38 RBI with 83 total bases for a slugging percentage of .561 to go along with 18 walks for an on-base clip of .427. Smith returned from offseason knee surgery just as strong as she saw time in 55 games with 50 starts during the season, her biggest hit of the season came with WT’s back against the wall in the South Central Regional Tournament as the Flower Mound native singled up the middle with the bases loaded and one out to drive in a pair of runs for a 4-3 win.

Smith was named to the All-Lone Star Conference 1st Team as well as the D2CCA All-South Central Region 1st Team and the LSC All-Tournament Team for her efforts on the field, she added to her trophy case with a D2CCA Honorable Mention All-American accolade. In the classroom, Smith was named to the LSC All-Academic Team while picking up CoSIDA Academic All-District honors.
 
2015 (Freshman):
Smith put together one of the best statistical seasons for a freshman in program history in 2015 as the Flower Mound native was tabbed the Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Year while also finishing as a Top-10 Finalists for the inaugural National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) DII National Freshman of the Year Award. Smith had a monster season at the plate for WT, hitting .393 with 17 doubles and nine homeruns to drive in 63 RBI for a slugging percentage of .663 to go along with 16 walks and 100 total bases as WT’s designated player.

Smith was named to the All-Lone Star Conference 1st Team for her efforts while also being named All-Region by the NFCA (2nd Team) and Daktronics (1st Team). Smith became the first freshman in program history to be tabbed an All-American as she picked up a pair of honors by the NFCA (3rd Team) and Daktronics (1st Team). She also excelled in the classroom, being named to the LSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
 
At Flower Mound High School:
Smith came to Canyon in the Fall of 2015 following a standout prep career at Flower Mound High School (Texas) where she played first base for the Jaguars under head coach Mark Larriba. As a senior in 2014, Smith led the Jaguars to the Texas Class 5A Regional Semifinals for the deepest playoff run in program history, hitting .492 with 14 doubles, six homeruns and 42 RBI to pick-up All-State accolades as well as being named a Dallas Morning News SportsDay 2nd Team honoree.
 
Personal:
Born July 25th. Smith is the daughter of Bill and Troye Smith and she has two siblings, Austin and Gabrielle. She is majoring in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Corporate Communications at West Texas A&M.
