2020 Indoor: Earned Second Team All-Lone Star Conference honors after a runner-up finish in. the shot put at the Lone Star Conference Championships with a mark of 53-2.25 (16.21m). Also finished sixth in the weight throw with a toss of 50-8 (15.44m). Won the shot put at the GAC Last Chance with a seasonal best toss of 54-2.75 (16.53m). Also won the shot put at The Power 5 with a mark of 52-5.5 (15.99m). Earned USTFCCCA All-Region (shot put).
2019 Outdoor: Finished fifth in the hammer throw at the Lone Star Conference Championships with a personal best performance of 164-8 (50.19m). He also finished seventh in the shot put at the LSC Championships with a mark of 52-10.25 (16.11m). Finished first in the hammer throw (163-10/49.95m) and second in the shot put (53-7.5/16.34m) at the WT Last Chance. Won the shot put at the West Texas A&M Invitational with a toss of 52-2 (15.90m) while finishing third in the hammer throw. Recorded a pair of fourth-place finishes in both events at the WT Classic & Multi and Fearless Champion Open.
2019 Indoor:Recorded a pair of Top 8 finishes at the Lone Star Conference Championships in the shot put and weight throw. He finished fifth in the shot put with a toss of 53-3 (16.23m) while finishing sixth in the weight throw with a mark of 50-1.75 (15.28m). Had a personal best performance in the shot put at The Power 5 with a toss of 55-0.25 (16.77m) which is the fourth-best throw in program history and ranked him 35
thin the nation. Finished second in the shot put an third in the weight throw at the ASU NCAA Qualifier.
2018 Outdoor: Finished sixth in the hammer throw at the West Texas A&M Invitational with a mark of 46.41-meters (152-3). He also finished 12
th in discus throw with a mark of 41.16m (135-0).
2018 Indoor: Had a strong showing at the Lone Star Conference Championships with a third-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 16.19-meters (53-1.5). He also finished 15
th in the weight throw. Had a seasonal best mark of 15.04m (49-4.25) in the weight throw at the ASU NCAA Qualifier. Tied a seasonal best mark in the shot put with a throw of 16.19m (53-1.5) at the Texas Tech Open.
2017 Outdoor: Finished fifth in the shot put at the Lone Star Conference Championships with a personal best throw of 15.58 meters (51-1.5). He also finished 11
th in the hammer throw with a mark of 40.68 meters (133-5). Finished fourth at the West Texas A&M Invitational in the discus with a personal best mark of 38.49 meters (126-3). Recorded a runner-up finish in the hammer throw at the NMJC Ross Black Track & Field open with a personal best throw of 41.19 meters (135-2).
2017 Indoor: Finished 11
th in the shot put and 12
th in the weight throw at the Lone Star Conference Championships. His mark of 13.46 meters (44-2) in the weight throw was a personal best by more than a meter. Set a personal best mark of 15.46 meters (50-8.75) in the shot put at the Grizzly/Buffalo Clash where he finished fourth.
High School: Graduated from Amarillo High School in 2016 where he competed in the shot put and discus. He was a district champion as a senior on his way to setting the shot put area record. He was a region champ as a junior.
Personal: Born on May 5, 1998. Son of Greg and Alicia Pickens. Has two siblings. Plans on majoring in sports and exercise science at West Texas A&M.
