Senior (2013-14)


    Cross Country: Finished 54th in the 8K at the Texas Tech Red Raider Open with a time of 28:51.6 and 31st in the 8K at the WTAMU Buffalo Stampede with a time of 28:33.3. Placed 13th overall at the Wagonwheel Dual (8K), crossing the line at 28:09.77.

    Track & Field: In his final season with the Buffs, Puga recorded fifth place finishes in both the DMR and 800m at the LSC Indoor Championship, helping the team to its first LSC title in program history. He then added a seventh place finish in the 800m at the LSC Outdoor Championship. Puga earned a spot on the LSC Fall Commissioner's Honor Roll and LSC Indoor All-Academic team. He set a new PR in 2014 in the 800m (1:54.60) and led the 4x800m relay team to a new outdoor school record time of 7:52.94.

Junior (2012-13)

    Cross Country: Placed 43rd overall in the 8K at the LSC Championships with a time of 27:15.4 and 88th overall in the 10K at the South Central Regional Championships with a time of 36:12.0.

    Track & Field: Won first place in the DMR at the LSC Indoor Championships. Puga improved many of his times during the indoor and outdoor season and set three personal records: 52.47 (400m), 1:54.94 (800m) and 2:35.31 (1000m).

Sophomore (2011-2012)

    Track & Field: In addition to his previous events, Puga's sophomore season saw him add the 400m, DMR, 1000m and 1500m to his list. He led the 4x4 relay and DMR teams to second-place finishes along with a third-place showing in the 800m at the LSC Indoor Championships. Set a personal best in the 1500m at 4:17.22.

Freshman (2010-2011)

    Track & Field: As a freshman, Puga competed in the 600m, 600y, 800m and relay events. Earned five top-five finishes between the 800m and relay events during the outdoor season. His personal bests included 1:23.98 (600m) and 1:15.15 (600y).

High School: Puga attended Dimmitt High School where he ran for Coach Joe Cabezuela.  Puga ran cross country, the 400m, 4x100m relay, and the 4x400m relay. Martin was a regional qualifier all four years on the track well at Dimmitt High School, and a regional qualifier his senior year in cross country.  He helped the Bobcat’s to a district championship in the 4x400m relay. Puga was also a member of the Dimmitt football team where he earned a second team all-district honors his junior year, followed by an Honorable mention and All-State Academic honors his senior year. 

Personal: Son of Julia Gomez and Martin Puga, Sr. Has two siblings, Juan and Nancy Rosalez.  Puga is a Secondary Education Major.
