Sophomore (2013-14)


    Cross Country: Marquez began the season off by finishing 14th overall at the Texas Tech Red Raider Open (8K) with a time of 27:10.50. The sophomore followed up with a 42nd place showing in the college division at the 25th annual Chili Pepper Cross Country Festival (8K) with a time of 26:30.4. Marquez then began the postseason off strong by earning LSC All-Conference honors and helping his team to its first LSC title in program history. Individually, he crossed the line seventh in the 8K with a time of 25:58.70. Marquez then placed 53rd at the NCAA South Central Regional Championships (10K) as he finished at 32:34, helping his team qualify for nationals for the first time in program history. Went on to run a 33:16.1 at the NCAA National Championships (10K).

    Track & Field: Redshirted both indoor and outdoor seasons. At the conclusion of the academic year, Marquez was named Capital One Academic First-Team All-District for the XC/T&F season combined.

Freshman (2012-13)

    Cross Country: Began his freshman campaign by placing 52nd overall in the PUMA/Joe I. Vigil Open in the 8K with a time of 27:35.9. Finished 20th overall in the LSC Championships in the 8K with a time of 26:23.0 and 53rd overall in the South Central Region Championships in the 10K with a time of 34:52.0.

    Track & Field: Competed in the 800m, 1000m, 1500m, 4x4 relay, DMR, mile, 3000m and 5000m events as a freshman during indoor and outdoor. Part of the DMR team that placed first at the LSC Indoor Championships. There, he also placed in the top-five in the mile and 3000m events. His top times included 1:57.05 (800m), 2:32.62 (1000m), 4:03.65 (1500m), 4:19.69 (mile), 8:56.97 (3000m) and 15:47.40 (5000m).

High School: Graduated from Andrews High School in 2012. As a senior, he was honored all-state in cross country, all-district and all-region in track, and part of the Regional Championship team and in the 3200m. Also placed third in the 1600m, fourth in the 3200m, and was 10th in thestate for cross country. Overall, he was a three-time District Champion in the 1600m and cross country, two-time District Champion in the 3200m and District Champion in the 800m. Two-time cross country region runner-up, two-time region runner-up in 1600m and region runner-up in the 3200m. Also lettered one year in basketball. Three-time Academic Award and Pursuit of Excellence Award.

Personal: Born September 23, 1993. Son of Rick and Linda Marquez. Has one sister Diandra (25). Majoring in engineering at West Texas A&M.
