2014: As a junior, Banks helped lead the Buffs to their first-ever LSC title during the indoor season. There, he scored points with a fourth-place finish in the 200m dash. He also tied a personal best during indoor in the 55m dash with a time of 6.52. He returned to the national stage once again during the outdoor season where he competed in the 200m at the NCAA Championship and finished 19th in the country. At the LSC Outdoor Championship, he led the 4x1 and 4x4 relays to fourth and fifth place finishes, respectively. Banks was named USTFCCCA All-Region for both indoor (200m) and outdoor (200m & 4x1) season.

2013: Banks led the 4x4 relay team to a fourth-place finish in the LSC Indoor Championships in his sophomore season. Also qualified for the NCAA Indoor National Championships in the DMR where he helped the team to 10th place national finish. Once again, Banks was part of 10 top-five finishes during the outdoor season. Helped the Buffs to a second-place finish in the LSC Outdoor Championships. Set several personal bests including 6.52 (55m), 6.92 (60m), 10.68 (100m), 21.52 (200m) and 35.82 (300m).

2012: As a freshman, Banks competed in the 55m, 60m, 100m, 200m, 400m, DMR, 4x1 and 4x4 relay events. Helped the 4x4 relay team to second-place finish in the LSC Indoor Championships. Had 10 top-five finishes during the outdoor season, many with the 4x1 and 4x4 relay teams. Helped the 4x1 relay team qualify for the NCAA Outdoor National Championships where he led the team to a fourth-place finish and was named All-American. Banks also set a personal best in the 400m with a time of 50.72.

High School: Jerell attended Winston Churchill High School where he competed in the 100m, 200m, 400m, long jump, 4x100m relay, 4x200m relay, and 4x400m relay. He is a two-time regional qualifier and a district and regional champion. Some of his personal bests were 10.42 (100m), 21.68 (200m), 40.03 (4x1) and 1.26 (4x2). Jerell also was a member of the football and basketball teams. Had a 4.0 high school GPA.

Personal: Born September 7, 1992. Son of Rodney Murray and Xanthippia Banks, has two siblings Justice and Jaden. Majoring in mass communications/advertising/public relations at West Texas A&M.
