2017 Outdoor: Finished sixth in the 110-meter hurdles at the Lone Star Conference Championships running 15.19 in the final. He ran a persona best time in that event, 14.91, at the West Texas A&M Invitational  where he finished third. Ran a seasonal best time of 11.42 in the 100-meter dash at the same meet.
2017 Indoor: Finished 11
th in the 60-meter hurdles at the Lone Star Conference Championships running 8.50 in the prelims. Ran a personal best time of 8.49 in the 60m hurdles at the Grizzly/Buffalo Clash. Jumped a seasonal best mark of 6.05 meters (19-10.25) in the long jump at the ASU Early Grizzly Open.
2016 Outdoor: Finished 10
th in the decathlon at the Lone Star Conference Championships with a personal-best performance of 5,678 points. He ran a personal-best time in the 1,500-meters during the competition crossing the line in 5:02.49. He also finished 12
th in the 110-meter hurdles running 15.26. Finished fifth in the decathlon at the WT Classic & Multi with 5,602 points. Ran a personal-best time of 15.05 in the 110-meter hurdles to finish sixth at the Ross Black Open.

2016 Indoor: Finished eighth in the heptathlon at the LSC Indoor Championships with 4, 254 points. That is the seventh-most in school history. Won the heptathlon at the Grizzly-Buffalo Clash with a personal-best score of 4,267 points which is the sixth-most in school history.

2015 Indoor: Competed in three meets as a freshmen for the Buffs where he competed in the hurdles, sprints and 4x400-meter relay. He ran a personal-best time of 8.39 in the 55-meter hurdles, 1:21.10 in the 600 yard dash and 3:33.87 in the 4x400.
High School: McLain graduated from Channing High School in 2014 where he competed for the Eagles under head coach Arnold Peralez. 1A State Champion his senior season in 110m hurdles and 300m hurdles. Regional qualifier in high jump. Best times/marks include 14.6 (110mH), 39.6 (300mH), and 6'2" (HJ). Also lettered four years in basketball and cross country. All-District for three seasons and co-offensive MVP in basketball. Academic All-State 6-man. Salutatorian.
Personal: Born August 28. Son of Robert (WT grad) & Connie McLain. Has two siblings, Megan (WT grad) and Mackenzie (WT student). Majoring in Sports & Exercise Science at West Texas A&M.
