2017 Outdoor: Finished fifth in the 10,000-meters at the Lone Star Conference Championships running a personal best time of 31:54.74. He also finished ninth at the championships in the 5,000-meters running 15:38.45. Ran a seasonal best time of 15:20.80 in the 5,000m at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival. He finished third in the 5,000m at the West Texas A&M Invitation running an altitude adjusted time of 15:41.39.
2017 Indoor: Finished fourth in the 5,000-meters out of the first heat at the Lone Star Conference Championships running 15:08.12. Ran a personal best time of 4:12.46 in the mile at the GVSU Big Meet Friday which makes is the ninth-fastest time in school history.
2016 Cross Country: Named Lone Star Conference Runner of the Year for the second consecutive year after a record-breaking junior season where he broke the school record over 8,000-meters and becoming the first Buff in program history to earn All-American honors at back-to-back championship meets. Finished a program-best 15
th at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships becoming the first runner in program history to earn All-American honors twice in a career covering the 10,000-meter course in 30:45.5. Became the first runner in program history to earn USTFCCCA All-Region honors three times in a career after finishing 9
th at the South Central Region in a time of 31:46 leading the Buffs to the National Championships for the fourth consecutive season. Won back-to-back Lone Star Conference individual titles for the first time in school history covering the 8k course in 25:07.3. Became the first Buff to break 24 minutes in the 8k distance at the FHSU Tiger Open where he ran 23:50.9 finishing as the top collegiate defeating the nearest Division II runner by more than 10 seconds. Named LSC Runner of the Week (Oct. 13).
2016 Outdoor: Won the 3,000-meter steeplechase title at the Lone Star Conference Championships running 9:21.74. He provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in that event after running 9:07.26 at the Bryan Clay Invitational. That was the 23
rd fastest time in the nation. He also finished seventh at the LSC Championships in the 1,500-meters running 4:01.72. He ran a personal-best time of 3:51.97 in the 1,500-meters at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
2016 Indoor: Kipchumba had an outstanding year that included becoming an All-American for the second time, breaking two school records, winning two Lone Star Conference individual titles and provisionally qualifying in three events. He became the first Buff runner to earn All-American honors cross country and indoor track in school history. Kipchumba split 4:06 to anchor the distance medley relay to a runner-up finish at the indoor championships in Pittsburg, Kan. Their time of 9:49.24 was the second fastest-time in school history. Three weeks before the indoor championships, Kipchumba won both the 5,000 meters and 3,000 meters at the LSC Championships and finishing third in the mile out of the second heat. He finished the meet with a combined 26 points which was the most by any athlete. He was part of the DMR that broke the school and LSC conference record during the Grizzly-Buffalo Clash. The quartet ran an altitude and track adjusted time of 9:47.86 which was the fourth-fastest time in the nation. Kipchumba became the first Buff to break 15 minutes in the 5,000 meters indoor at the GVSU Holiday Open. His time of 14:22.28 was the fastest time ran in the LSC and ranked No. 17 in the nation.
2015 Cross Country: Kipchumba was named the 2015 Lone Star Conference Runner of the Year after an impressive sophomore campaign that saw him become the first All-American in men’s cross country program history with his 20
th place finish at the NCAA Division II Championships in Joplin, Mo. He covered the 10,000 meters course in a personal-best time of 30:12.6 to improve 26 spots from the previous year. He earned All-Region honors with his seventh place finish at the South Central Regional Championships (10K) with a time of 30:22.0. He led from start to finish at the Lone Star Conference Championships (8k) earning his first individual title in a time of 25:03.0. Finished 16
th overall and 4
th in the college division at the Chile Pepper Festival (8k) in a personal-best time of 24:09.5. Throughout the season, he was twice named the LSC Runner of the Week.
2015 Outdoor: Redshirt.
2015 Indoor: Earned All-Conference honors after running a leg on the distance medley relay that won the Lone Star Conference title running 10:22.64. He also finished second in both the mile (4:18.81) and 3,000-meters (8:51.03) at the same meet while his altitude converted time of 4:17.09 in the mile set a freshman record. Set the freshman record for 3,000m at the GVSU Meet Invite running 8:33.03. He was part of the DMR that broke the school and conference record at the same meet running 9:55.03.
2014 Cross Country: Kipchumba enjoyed an excellent freshman season for the Buffs. He started off with a fourth place finish at the OSU Cowboy Jamboree (8K) before running a PR time of 24:46.9 with an eight place showing at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival (8K). After Chile Pepper, he was named LSC Runner of the Week. Kipchumba went on to earn LSC All-Conference honors with a fourth place individual finish in the LSC Championship (8K), leading the Buffs to a second-consecutive team title and earning himself the LSC Freshman of the Year award. He then led the Buffs to national qualification again as he placed 16th, earning USTFCCCA All-Region accolades, at the NCAA South Central Regional Championship (10K), running a 32:55.0. Then, at the NCAA National Championship (10K), Kipchumba placed 46th overall, running a 31:39.6 and leading the Buffs an 11th place team finish, the highest in program history.
