Biography

2019 (Junior):
Koelzer was a staple on the diamond for the Buffs during his junior season in 2019, starting 48 contests. The Amarillo product hit .278 with nine doubles, two triples and four homeruns to drive in 29 RBI for a slugging percentage of .426 to go along with 30 walks for an on-base clip of .385. He and All-American Kyle Kaufman combined for one of the top catching duos in Division II Baseball as Koelzer registered 330 putouts and 23 assists behind the plate for a fielding percentage of .989 while throwing out seven would-be base stealers.

At Texas Tech:
Koelzer spent two seasons at Texas Tech University in Lubbock as the talented catcher was a part of two Red Raider teams that advanced to the NCAA Postseason including a run to Omaha and the College World Series this spring under head coach Tim Tadlock. He hit .180 as a sophomore in 2018 with three doubles and a triple to drive in four RBI for a slugging percentage of .262 while registering 125 putouts and 11 assists behind the plate for a fielding clip of .978.
 
During his freshman season in Lubbock, Koelzer hit .263 for the Red Raiders with a pair of doubles and four RBI in 38 plate appearances for a slugging percentage of .316 to go along with four walks for an on-base clip of .333. The talented catcher registered 59 putouts and 10 assists behind the dish during his true freshman campaign for a fielding percentage of .972. The Red Raiders finished the past two seasons with an overall record of 90-37 including a 31-17 mark in league play as they claimed a share of the 2017 Big 12 Conference Championship.
 
At Amarillo High School:
Koelzer registered a standout prep career at Amarillo High School under legendary head coach Jeff Timmons. During his senior season in 2016, the three-year starter behind the plate led the Sandies to the Texas Class 6A State Tournament as he hit .454 on the season with 64 hits and five homeruns to drive in 43 RBI to earned First Team All-State honors and being named a Rawlings-Perfect Game Honorable Mention All-American.

Personal:
Born March 19, 1998. Parents are Koby and Michele Koelzer and he has three siblings. Majoring in Kinesiology with a minor in Sport Management at WT.
