Fort Sumner High School:
West comes to Canyon after a successful prep career where he helped Fort Sumner become the fourth school in New Mexico to win a state title in basketball, football and track & field in the same academic year. As a senior he was named the NMHAA 2A Player of the Year after averaging 23.3 points, 10.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game leading his team to the State Championship. In their run to the state title, he averaged 26.7 points, 9.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 3.2 steals per game and five triples per game to be named the Tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
