Biography

GENERAL: Phillips will be competing for the Buffs’ placekicking duties this season.
 
2009: Phillips saw action in three contests (at Southwestern Oklahoma State, at Midwestern State and at Northeastern State). For the year, he was 1-of-2 on field goal attempts, with a successful 20-yard attempt at Midwestern State. He was also 3-of-4 on point-after attempts, including his nailing all three efforts at Northeastern State. He showed his ability to kick off, as well, averaging 47.8 yards on eight kickoffs.
 
2008: Redshirt season.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: As a defensive back and kicker at Amarillo (Texas) Bushland HS, Phillips was selected first team all-District at running back, defensive back and kicker. He also earned first team all-State honors at the kicker position after converting 13-of-17 field goal attempts in 2007, with a long of 52 yards. He finished the season perfect on field goal attempts from 39 yards and out, a figure which included four attempts of 47+ yards. Phillips was also 46-of-49 on point-after tries.
 
MAJOR: Phillips is a Pre-Engineering major at WTAMU.
