Biography

GENERAL: Mitchell earned his spurs, having been thrust into duty as a true freshman. He enters his sophomore campaign listed second on the depth chart at running back.
 
2009: Mitchell saw action in six games as a true freshman, carrying the ball 11 times for 47 yards and one TD. His most productive outing came at Southwestern Oklahoma State, where he rushed seven times for 33 yards and one TD. His season-long run of 17 yards also came in that game against the Bulldogs. He also posted positive rushing totals at Central Washington, against TAMU-Kingsville and at Northeastern State. He caught a pair of passes for the year, with one being a 17-yarder at Northeastern State.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Mitchell was a first-team all-state selection as a senior at Quanah (Texas) HS. Coached by James McDaniel, he rushed for 2,055 in 2008 to earn Offensive Most Valuable Player honors. He gained all-state honorable mention honors as a junior in 2007 (when he carried the ball for over 2,700 yards). Mitchell was also a letterwinner in track & field and basketball. 
 
MAJOR: Mitchell is majoring in Sports and Exercise Sciences at WTAMU.
