Luke Kasper was elevated to Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine & Performance in November of 2024.
Kasper is in his 10th year at West Texas A&M after joining the staff as an assistant athletic trainer and lecturer for the Sports & Exercise Science department, he was promoted to Director of Sports Medicine in July of 2017. Kasper is the main athletic trainer for the Buff and Lady Buff basketball programs. He also teaches Athletic Training classes in WT's Sports and Exercise Science program.
In the Summer of 2019, he worked with Team USA Handball traveling overseas to cover the 2019 Emerging Nations Handball Championship.

Before making the move to Canyon, Kasper spent time at The College of Saint Scholastica in Duluth Minn. covering the football, basketball and softball teams. He also spent the summer of 2015 working a camp with the Team USA 16U team in North Carolina. Kasper also taught two entry level master classes: Foundations in Neuromuscular Function and Conditioning and Rehabilitation II.Â

He also worked as an assistant athletic trainer at the University of Louisiana Lafayette, where he helped the Cajuns win nine games on the gridiron including a victory over Western Carolina in the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.Â

Before working with the Cajuns, Kasper obtained his master’s degree in health promotion with a concentration in athletic training from the University of Alabama while working as a graduate assistant working primarily with the Tide tennis program that ranked as high as No. 7.

Kasper earned his Bachelor’s of Science in athletic training from the University of Illinois in 2009. During his time in Champaign, Ill., he worked with a variety of teams including the 2007 Illini football team that went 9-3 and competed in the Rose Bowl. He also completed an internship with the Indianapolis Colts in 2008.Â

Kasper lives in Amarillo with his son, RJ, and his wife, Michelle, who is also an athletic trainer. The couple also has two dogs, Kazi and Clyde.
