West Texas A&M University Athletics

GENERAL: Sparks earned valuable playing time as a true freshman a year ago. He will be looking to parlay that experience into more activity in 2010.

2009: Sparks saw action in two contests (Angelo State and at Northeastern State).  He recorded one tackle, that being an assisted takedown against Angelo State.

HIGH SCHOOL: Sparks came to WTAMU in the spring of 2008 and participated in spring drills.  He enjoyed a solid prep career at Rotan (Texas) HS, where he was a two-way performer, seeing playing time on both the offensive and defensive lines as well as at tight end and linebacker.  In 2007, he earned first team all-Big Country honors as a linebacker, first team all-district honors as both an offensive and defensive lineman and was a second team all-state honoree for his defensive line play.  Sparks also participated in the Yellowhammers’ baseball, golf, track & field and power lifting programs.  Solid in the classroom, he placed second in Algebra at the U.S. National high School Mathematics competition and was a regional qualifier in UIL competition for science, mathematics and number sense.

MAJOR: Sparks is majoring in Wildlife Biology at WTAMU.
