2019: Did not see any action for the Buffs. 

2018: Appeared in eight games as a sophomore linebacker recording 9 tackles (2 solo, 7 assisted) and 0.5 tackles for loss. Had his best game of the season against Tarleton on Sept. 15 recording 6 tackles (2 solo, 4 assisted) and 0.5. Also recorded tackles against UT Permian Basin, Eastern New Mexico and MSU Texas.

2017: Saw action in seven games mainly on special teams. Did not record any statistics.

2016: Redshirted.

High School: Graduated from Tascosa High School in 2016 where he played middle linebacker for head coach Ken Plunk. He led his team to a 10-3 record during his senior season where he earned all-state accolades.

Personal: Born on May 4, 1997. Son of Jennifer Cervantes. Has three siblings: Markese Smith, Tevae Shoels and AJ Shoels. Undecided on a major.
