2020 William V. Cambpell Trophy Semifinalist

2020: Named Semifinalist for 2020 William V. Campbell Trophy. Appeared in four games including four starts. Recorded 15 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, a pass breakup and QB hurry. Recorded a season-high nine tackles and two tackles for loss against Angelo State on Sept. 26. Recorded a pair of tackles in his final collegiate game against Pittsburg State. 

2019: Appeared in seven games including one start recording 14 tackles (5 solo, 9 assisted) and a tackle for loss. He recorded a career-high 10 tackles and tackle for loss in WT’s victory over Eastern New Mexico in the Wagon Wheel game. He also recorded a QB hurray against William Jewell. 

2018: Appeared in 10 games with two starts at safety where he recorded 22 tackles (12 solo, 10 assisted) and a pass breakup. He had a season-high 6 tackles in WT’s comeback victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville in the Buffs final game at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium. Also had five tackles against Eastern New Mexico in the Wagon Wheel Game.

2017: Played in nine games with three starts. Recorded 14 tackles and nine solo stops. Had a season-high four tackles twice and a season-best three solo tackles against Eastern New Mexico (9/30). Had three pass breakups on the season.

2016: Redshirted. 

High School: Graduated from Tascosa High School in 2016 where he played cornerback and strong safety for the Rebels. He  was named first team all-district after helping the Rebels to the district title. He earned second team all-district accolades a junior. He also lettered in track & field.

Personal: Born on May 7, 1997. Son of Russ and Tracey Pennington. Has four siblings: Brently, Breck, Jake and Asher. Plans on majoring in business at West Texas A&M.
