2009 Season Stats
Career Stats: Has played in 42 games with 18 starts. Recorded 166 total tackles with 95 solo stops. Has 16 tackles for loss for 53 yards, along with three sacks for 24 yards. 2012: Saw action in 15 games with 15 starts. Had 87 total tackles which was third-most on the team. Tallied 53 solo stops which was second-most on the squad. Had 8.5 tackles for loss for 24 yards, one sack for nine yards and led the team with four interceptions for 146 yards. Recorded five pass breakups and three quarterback hurries, along with one fumble recovery and a blocked kick. Had 13 total tackles including 10 solo stops at Eastern New Mexico and recorded two interceptions for 124 yards and a score at Angelo State. Was a first team all-conference selection.
2011: Slater had a breakout redshirt sophomore season for the Buffs in 2011, seeing time in all 11 games. He registered 51 total tackles (29 solo, 22 assisted) with five of them landing for a loss from his safety position. Slater registered 1.5 sacks, two interception for 41 yards, six pass breakups and two quarterback hurries while recovering and forcing two fumbles.
2010: Slater saw limited time in the secondary for the Buffs as a redshirt sophomore during the 2010 season, seeing time in one game before suffering an injury. The Houston native registered three total tackles (1 solo, 2 assisted) on the season. Slater was awarded a medical redshirt for the 2010 season.
2009: As a redshirt freshman, Slater saw action in 12 games, including making starting appearances against Angelo State and Nebraska-Omaha. For the year, he tallied 25 tackles (12 solo, 13 assisted), including 2.5 tackles behind the line for minus-four yards. He had a season-high five stops (three solo, two assisted) at Midwestern State and forced a fumble at Tarleton State.
2008: Redshirted.
Cy-Ridge High School: A three-year starter in the secondary for Houston Cy-Ridge HS, Slater earned all-District 17-5A honors. He helped lead the 11-2 Rams to both District 17-5A and Area championships in 2007. As a junior in 2006, Slater recorded 72 tackles, two interceptions, three pass break-ups and one forced fumbled. He played wide receiver during his sophomore season, grabbing over 20 receptions.
