GENERAL: With 19 starts to his resume, this Houston-area product has developed into one of the top secondary men in the Lone Star Conference, as evidenced by his being honored with first-team all-LSC South honors.
2009: Playing at strong safety, Jefferson made his mark, logging a career-high 15 tackles against both #10-Texas A&M-Kingsville as well as at #23-Midwestern State. Against the Javs, he registered a game and then-career-high 15 tackles (3 solo, 12 assists), while also enjoying his second career interception. One week later, at Midwestern State, he duplicated that 15-tackle effort (9 solo, 6 assists) to go with one pass breakup and a QB hurry. Jefferson logged a team-best 12 stops (7 solo, 5 assists) at Tarleton State, as well as intercepting his third pass of the season. He also posted eight stops (two for lost-yardage) and an interception against Eastern New Mexico, as well as having an eight-tackle outing against Angelo State.
2008: Jefferson saw action in all 13 games as a redshirt freshman, making seven starts. He started they year with a bang, earning LSC Defensive Player of the Week honors after registering a team and game-high 10 tackles at Mesa State, including stripping a MSC receiver of the football at the WT 10-yard line and recovering the errant fumble. He matched that season-high 10-tackle effort with 10 takedowns against Abilene Christian. Over the course of the season, Jefferson registered 50 total tackles (30 solo, 20 assisted) to rank fourth among Buff defenders. He also six pass breakups and intercepted a pass at Texas A&M-Kingsville, which he returned 21 yards.
2007: Redshirt season.
HIGH SCHOOL: Jefferson helped the Cy-Ridge Rams to a 6-5 mark during his senior year. During that time, he earned first team all-District honors as a defensive back his senior year and was a second-team selection as a junior. He also lettered in track & field for three years, in which he competed in the triple jump. As a jumper, he was District Champion, Regional Qualifier and State Qualifier. Jefferson was also a member of the National Society of High School Scholars, as well as the Cy-Ridge Honor Roll.
MAJOR: Jefferson is majoring in Sports & Exercise Sciences at WTAMU.
