Nick Paremski

Entering his tenth season with the West Texas A&M football program, Nick Paremski continues in his role as defensive coordinator.  As defensive coordinator, Paremski has oversaw a defense that has produced the Lone Star Conference linebacker of the year, two defensive back of the year and two freshman of the year awards.  In addition, Markus Pierce-Brewster, Bryan Johnson, Taylor McCuller and Ethan Westbrooks each signed NFL free agent contracts with the New Orleans Saints, Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots and St. Louis Rams, respectively.  His unit also produced CFL signees Chris Olson and Kyle Voss.

Prior to taking the reins as defensive coordinator, Paremski was the Buffaloes secondary coach from 2006 thru 2012 and he continues to oversee this unit.  His secondary units annually rank among the Lone Star Conference leaders in passing defense statistics.

Throughout his nine year career coaching the Buffs secondary, he has developed fifteen first team, six second team and eight honorable mention All-LSC defensive backs.  Paremski also developed LSC defensive backs of the year Tae Evans (2010), who signed an NFL free agent contract with the St. Louis Rams, Curtis Slater (2013) and Torian Oakley (2014).  Over the years, he has also developed the talents of defensive backs Darnell Johnson, Arseel Shakoor, Bret Jones, Cashmin Thomas, Curtis Jefferson, Caleb Randolph and Jordan Smith.  All of whom have garnered various post-season accolades.

Prior to arriving in Canyon, Paremski spent two seasons at Lone Star Conference rival Texas A&M-Kingsville, where he helped the Javelinas capture the 2004 LSC Championship and an NCAA Division II playoff berth. Under Paremski’s tutelage, three TAMUK defensive backs earned All-LSC recognition including Michael Bragg, who captured first team All-LSC and Daktronics All-Southwest Region honors following the 2004 season. Bragg went on to have a three year NFL career with the Kansas City Chiefs after signing as a free agent.  As a team, the Texas A&M-Kingsville secondary was impressive as they limited opponents to 171.5 yards a game, ranking second in the Lone Star Conference.

Paremski earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and holds a master’s of Business Administration from Texas A&M-Kingsville.

Nick and his wife, Krista, reside in Amarillo and are the parents of a son, Huston and daughter Alani.
