Michael Collins

Michael Collins begins his second year at WT after serving last season as special teams coordinator and NFL liaison.   
    
He spent the 2015 season at Midland College. Prior to that, he spent the last three seasons working in the North Star Athletic Association of the NAIA. Collins was the defensive coordinator at Dakota State University for two years following a one-year stint as the defensive back coach at Jamestown College (N.D.).  The 2014 campaign at Dakota State saw the football team produce the first winning season in 16 years.
    
Prior to coaching at Jamestown, Collins was at William Penn University (Iowa) for four seasons. He served as the wide receiver coach for three of those years and the defensive back coach for one season. During that time, the program saw a cumulative record of 33-12 with a Mid-States Football Association conference championship and ranked as high as No. 4 in the NAIA.
    
While earning his master’s degree in May of 2010 in Business Leadership at William Penn, Collins assisted on teams that broke numerous school records as well as national records.
  
Collins coached at Iowa Wesleyan University in 2007 where he served as quarterback coach and assisted in implement a new offensive scheme. He also coordinated and assisted with special teams that year.
    
He received his bachelor’s degree in business with a minor in coaching at Central Michigan University in May 2007.  He was a student assistant coach for the Chippewas in 2006 as CMU won the Mid-American Conference championship and beat Middle Tennessee State in the Motor City Bowl for the program’s first bowl victory.
    
Collins resides in Canyon with his wife Sandra and their dog Maverick.
