Danny McDonald begins his second year at WT as an defensive graduate assistant in 2017.
McDonald came to West Texas A&M as an outside receivers coach in 2016 after spending last year at East Los Angeles College in Los Angeles, Calif., working with wide receivers and serving as special teams coordinator. In 2015, he helped lead ELAC special teams to be the tenth overall unit statistically out of 70 junior college teams in the state and had one of this WR’s earn all-conference honors. McDonald spent the two years previous as a volunteer assistant at Washington State University, assisting WR coaches Dennis Simmons and David Yost.
McDonald played wide receiver in college at Washington State University for Mike Leach. He first played at University of Puget Sound (Tacoma, Wash.) in 2010 and 2011 as a quarterback.
The Edmonds, Wash., native, is a graduate of Meadowdale High School where he received first team all-conference honors as a quarterback his senior year, while leading the Mavericks to an 11-1 season and breaking several single season passing records.
McDonald graduated with a degree in accounting at Washington State and is pursuing a master’s of education in instructional design and technology at West Texas A&M.
