Nollan Koon enters his first season in the dugout for the Buffaloes as he returned to Canyon as a graduate assistant coach in December of 2024. Koon returns to the Texas Panhandle following time as a hitting coach at Northeastern State in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
The Yukon, Oklahoma native played one season for the Buffaloes in 2022, seeing time in 29 games with 23 starts behind the plate as the Buffs went 39-19 overall. The Buffs advanced to the championship game of the Lone Star Conference Championships in San Angelo and qualified for the program's eighth NCAA Tournament.
Koon started his collegiate playing career at Connors State College in Warner, Oklahoma. The talented catcher saw time in 62 games over two seasons for the Cowboys, registering 78 hits in his 226 at-bats for a batting average of .345 to go along with 22 doubles, one triple and two homeruns to drive in 48 RBI for a slugging percentage of .478. Behind the plate, Koon registered 367 putouts and 28 assists with just one error for a fielding clip of .997 to pick up All-Region accolades.
