2018-19 (Redshirt Freshman)
Was one of the top bench players for the Buffs appearing in 33 games for an average of 8.1 minute per contest. He averaged 2.7 points per game going 32-of-64 from the floor, 4-of-16 from three-point range and 22-of-34 from the free throw line while pulling down 50 rebounds, 16 assists, four steals and three blocks. Scored a season-high 16 points against Angelo State (2/14) going 6-of-8 from the floor and 3-of-3 from the charity stripe. Led the team in rebounds with against Science & Arts (11/17).

At Thornwood High School:
Pennington comes to Canyon from Thornwood High School in South Holland, Illinois where he averaged 14 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals per game. He helped the Thunderbirds to an overall record of 17-11 as a senior with a 9-3 mark in conference play to finish second in the league standings. Pennington was an All-Southwest Suburban Conference selection along with an All-Tournament selection at the Thanksgiving Chicago Heights Classic. Pennington will join former Thornwood teammate and current Buffalo Drew Evans on the 2017-18 team.
