CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Lady Buffs shot an opening round of +5 (293) as they sit third overall following the opening round of the WinStar Invitational in Thackerville, Oklahoma.
 
Southeastern Oklahoma State shot a 289 (+1) on Sunday to hold a one-stroke lead over defending National Champion and host DBU (290).
 
Mia Hammerschmid shot an even 72 (E) to sit tied for fifth overall as the sophomore had three birdies and three bogeys. Holly Duddy also shot a 72 as the Garden City CC transfer had four birdies in the opening round with Monica Del Valle Pena shooting an even-par 72 with three birdies and an eagle on the 503-yard par five 15^th hole.
 
The Lady Buffs will be paired with Southeastern Oklahoma State, DBU and St. Mary's during Monday's second round starting at 8:50 a.m. CT.
