ALAMOSA, COLORADO – West Texas A&M Women's Soccer (1-1-1) picked up their first tie of the season as they battled to a 0-0 draw against Adams State Thursday afternoon.
Franciezca Blancaflor would produce a four save shutout for the Lady Buffs in goal.
Through the first nine minutes of the game, WT would register the only shot with
Jade Martinez landing one on goal in the fourth minute. Over the next 13 minutes, West Texas A&M's defense would be tested with Adams State firing five shots (two on goal) and creating five corner kicks. The Lady Buffs held firm during the barrage to keep the Grizzlies off the board. They would tighten up defensively as ASU only recorded one shot on goal and corner kick throughout the remainder of the half. The score would set at 0-0 heading into the halftime break after a physical half that saw Adams State commit eight fouls.
Out of the break, the Lady Buffs carried over their defensive momentum as they did not allow a shot or corner kick through the first 25 minutes. WT nearly got on the board in the 64th minute as they would draw a yellow card in the box.
Charo Rodriguez Fortea did not convert the penalty as the game remained tied. West Texas A&M made a late push with two shots on goal and two corner kicks in the final 20 minutes, but nothing would come to fruition. The game would finalize in a 0-0 draw.
Top Lady Buffs
- Franciezca Blancaflor produced four saves in the shutout tie as she played all 90 minutes. With her shutout, Blancaflor cracked into the top 10 in career shutouts with five as she tied McKynzie Zick (2014-15) for tenth place. She is now up to 10 saves on the season and is two saves from passing Graduate Assistant Coach Daniela Estrada (2019-21, 81) for eighth place.
- Jade Martinez played 68 minutes in the midfield and notched two shots on goal.
- Mollie Ferro recorded one shot on goal in all 90 minutes of action. This was her first game this season playing all 90 minutes.

- West Texas A&M is now 8-1-3 all-time against Adams State and extended their unbeaten streak to six consecutive games.
- The Lady Buffs led the game in saves (4-3).
- Ryann Davis and Bailee Ramirez both played all 90 minutes on defense. This was Davis' second full game and Ramirez' first.
- Charo Rodriguez Fortea and Naya Megnin both recorded a shot in 78 and 44 minutes respectively.
- Samantha Solorzano, Sara Soto, and Riley Sims all exceeded 70 minutes of play with 81, 74, and 71 minutes in the field.
