Combined Perfect Game Highlights a Senior Day Sweep

CANYON, Texas – The #6 Lady Buffs ran their win streak to a dozen games on the final day of the regular season as a combined perfect game highlighted a Senior Day sweep of the UT Permian Basin Falcons at Schaeffer Park in Canyon.
 
The Lady Buffs have clinched the program's sixth Lone Star Conference regular season title and the hosting rights for next weekend's LSC Softball Championship at Schaeffer Park in Canyon beginning on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Game 1 – West Texas A&M 17, UT Permian Basin 0 (5 innings)
The Lady Buffs jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning on a Trinity Kuntz RBI single to center that scored Abby Howell followed by a Cadence Colborn double that plated Kuntz at 2-0.
 
WT broke the game open in the second inning as they plated six runs on six hits highlighted by extra-base hits from Kuntz, Colborn and Heaven Moreno for the 8-0 lead. The Lady Buffs added to their lead in the third on a Jordyn De Los Santos stolen base followed by a Colborn RBI single to center at 10-0.
 
The Lady Buffs added to their lead in the bottom of the fourth with seven runs on six hits. De Los Santos drove home Mya Chacon followed by hits from Maddie Hight and Landri Holcomb, WT wasn't done yet as Tessia Guzman scored Hight followed by a Lily Mulder double to center and a Briley Daniel RBI groundout for the 17-0 lead.
 
Laci Peskey claimed the win (19-4) in the circle, allowing no runs on no hits with four strikeouts in her 2.0 frames. The Lady Buffs combined for a perfect game as Reagan Sucher, Peskey and Ava Sharp combined for five strikeouts.
 
It marked the fifth overall and third combined perfect game in Lady Buff Softball history, the first since Kyra Lair's 18-strikeout performance against UTPB on February 26, 2023 in Canyon.
 
Game 2 – West Texas A&M 11, UT Permian Basin 0 (5 Innings)
WT jumped out to an early lead in the nightcap on a De Los Santos two-run homerun to left field in the bottom of the first for the 2-0 lead. The Lady Buffs added to their lead in the second as De Los Santos connected on her second long ball of the game and 24th of the season while also setting a new single-season hits record for the Lady Buffs (90) for the 4-0 lead.
 
The Lady Buffs continued their offensive dominance in the third inning as they plated seven runs highlighted by homeruns from Kuntz, Brooke Janning and Abby Howell for the 11-0 lead.
 
Sucher claimed the win (5-0) for the Lady Buffs, allowing no runs on no hits with four strikeouts in her 3.0 innings of work.
