Buffs Suffer a 4-0 Loss to Simon Fraser on Thursday Night

CANYON, Texas – The Buffaloes of West Texas A&M couldn't find the back of the net on Thursday night as they suffered a 4-0 shutout loss to Simon Fraser at the Toyota Soccer Complex in Frisco, Texas.
 
The first half began with WT applying early pressure, as Ben Scotford tested Simon Fraser's goalkeeper, Jordan Thorsen, with two shots saved in the opening ten minutes. Despite their offensive efforts, Simon Fraser capitalized on their opportunities, breaking the deadlock in the 37th minute with a goal from Koji Poon. They extended their lead shortly after, with Michael Hennessy scoring a second goal in the 41st minute, assisted by Luis Klimo. The Buffs continued to press, but the half concluded with Simon Fraser leading 2-0.
 
Simon Fraser extended their lead early in the second half with a goal from Poon in the 55th minute, increasing the score to 3-0. Despite multiple attempts by the Buffs, including a shot by Dylan Cabrera in the 50th minute that went wide, they struggled to find the back of the net. Zach Kos made a crucial save for the Buffs in the 57th minute, stopping a bottom-right shot from Hennessy. In the 75th minute, Simon Fraser capitalized on a corner kick with Kundalini Bien-Aimé scoring, assisted by Kian Proctor, finalizing the score at 4-0. The half ended with the Buffs unable to convert their opportunities into goals.
 
Scotford led the team in shots, registering three attempts with two on goal. Arthur Macri contributed offensively with three shots, one of which was on target. Kos, in goal, recorded two saves over the 90 minutes, facing eight shots in total.
 
Poon led Simon Fraser with two goals, including the game-winner, from two shots on goal. Hennessy contributed one goal and led the team in total shots with four, three of which were on target. Bien-Aimé added another goal, scoring with his only shot of the game. Thorsen was solid in goal, recording three saves during his 90 minutes of play, securing the shutout.
 
The Buffs close out their non-conference schedule on Saturday afternoon as they take on St. Martin's starting at 12:00 p.m. at the Toyota Soccer Complex in Frisco. The Saints claimed their first victory of the season on Thursday in a 1-0 shutout of UT Tyler.
