CANYON, Texas – The #17 Wildcats of Central Washington scored 35 points in the first half on their way to a 52-6 Lone Star Conference win over the Buffaloes on Saturday night at Tomlinson Stadium in Ellensburg, Washington.

West Texas A&M opened the first quarter with an opportunity to set the pace, but an early interception by Central Washington's King Williams at 14:22 quickly shifted momentum. Despite the setback,
RJ Martinez connected with
Jamir Roberts for a 46-yard completion, showcasing a resilient passing game. However, the drive ended without points after a turnover on downs, as the Buffs faced a strong defensive effort from Central Washington, closing the quarter trailing 21-0.

The second quarter began with a setback for the Buffs as Martinez's pass was intercepted by Mika Roberson, halting their momentum at the outset. However, the team regrouped with Martinez later connecting on a key 19-yard pass to
Zach Phipps, setting up a 7-yard touchdown pass to
C'ing Blanton at 7:25, putting the visitors on the board. Despite a blocked extra point attempt, the Buffs kept pressing, highlighted by a significant 56-yard completion from Martinez to Phipps, though the drive ultimately stalled with a turnover on downs.

The third quarter began with a strong kickoff by the Buffs'
Preston Gregg, resulting in a touchback. However, Central Washington quickly capitalized, marching down the field for a touchdown at 11:02, extending their lead with a successful extra point. Despite efforts from the Buffs, including a 15-yard completion by Martinez to Blanton, the quarter ended without a score, highlighted by a fumble recovery by Central Washington after a 6-yard rush by
Jayden Hibbler.

The fourth quarter began with a standout defensive play by the Buffs, as
Hunter Corbin forced a fumble, recovered by
Camden Raymond at their 26-yard line at 9:50, halting Central Washington's advance. Despite a stalled drive on offense, the Buffs' defense remained active, with

Martinez completed 19 of 42 passes for 292 yards and one touchdown, despite two interceptions. Phipps collected 99 receiving yards on three catches, showcasing his ability to gain significant yardage.
Cam Manahan led the defense with eight total tackles, providing a solid presence in the secondary. Blanton contributed with a touchdown reception, adding to the team's scoring efforts.

Central Washington's offense was led by junior quarterback Kennedy McGill, who completed 10 of 16 passes for 217 yards and four touchdowns, adding 62 rushing yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. Sophomore wide receiver Mason Juergens made a significant impact with 78 receiving yards on one catch, including a touchdown, and added 55 rushing yards on a single attempt. Junior running back Justice Taylor contributed on the ground, scoring two touchdowns on nine carries for 48 yards.

On defense, linebacker Kuma Scanlan stood out with three tackles, two sacks, and a fumble recovery. Sophomore defensive lineman Tyler King recorded five tackles and 2.5 sacks, showcasing a strong defensive front. Defensive backs Williams and Roberson each intercepted a pass, with Williams returning his for 20 yards.
