Buffs Selected Sixth in the LSC Football Preseason Poll

CANYON, Texas –
 The West Texas A&M Buffaloes have been selected sixth in the 2025 version of the Lone Star Conference Preseason Football Poll announced on Thursday afternoon during the league's annual football media day at McKinney ISD Stadium.
 
Defending champion Angelo State claimed 23 of the possible 30 first place votes for a total of 292 points to sit atop of the poll followed by Central Washington (four first place, 257), UT Permian Basin (two first place, 229), Texas A&M-Kingsville (one first place, 211), West Texas A&M (157), Midwestern State (139), Eastern New Mexico (88), Western New Mexico (53), Sul Ross State (51). 
 
Braden Fuller of Angelo State was named the league's Preseason Offensive Player of the Year while UTPB's Tristan Exline was tabbed the LSC Player of the Year accolades. The preseason honors and poll are voted on by LSC head coaches, sports information directors and media members.
 
All 10 league teams will play nine conference games to determine the LSC champion. LSC football began in 1931. Texas A&M-Kingsville posts a conference-best 27 championships, with its first coming in 1959 and last in 2009. West Texas A&M (1986, 2005-2007 and 2012) and Angelo State (1978, 1984, 1987, 2022, 2024) have won five LSC crowns. Midwestern State (2011-2012, 2017 and 2021) has four while Eastern New Mexico has won twice (1991 and 2013). Sul Ross State also prevailed two times (1950, 1965) in its first run as a member of the league.
 
The new season of LSC football, which began in 1931, will begin as early as Aug. 28 with defending league champion ASU, CWU, ENMU and WT kicking off that day. MSU, SRSU, UTPB and WNMU will start Aug. 30, while TAMUK and WOU get going Sept. 6. All 10 league teams will play nine conference games to determine the conference champion. The Buffaloes open the 2025 campaign on Thursday, August 28th as they travel to Gunnison, Colorado to take on the Western Colorado Mountaineers.
