THE BASICS
Game 1 Score:
#3 West Texas A&M 12, Sul Ross State 1 (5 Inn.)
Pitching: (W) Ashley Mandell (1-0); (L) Leanza Chambers (1-11)
The Lady Buff offense started rolling in the opening frame of the doubleheader as a Lauren Granger double started the game. After a Kiley Avery single, Avery and Granger executed a double steal to score a run. A Abby Howell walk set up an RBI single off the bat of Emilee Boyer. Cadence Colborn doubled into the left-center gap, scoring two and doubling the lead at 4-0. A one-out walk from Avery Cannon loaded the bases where an Emily Liskai single extended the lead to 5-0 and brought the top of the lineup to the plate. A sacrifice fly from Granger followed by a run-scoring wild pitch plated two more with an additional run closing out the inning as Liskai crossed home.

In the second, a leadoff walk came around to score on Boyer's 11th home run of the season. The Lady Buffs added two runs in the top of the fourth as singles from Boyer and Moreno out set up a pinch-hit single for Brianna Stokes. With the bases loaded and one out, pinch-hitter Kendall Luna de la Fuente knocked a hit off the third-base bag to score two.

Sul Ross State broke up the shutout in the bottom of the fourth when three straight singles loaded the bases. A fielder's choice recorded an out as the Lobos sent a runner to the plate.

Game 2 Score:  #3 West Texas A&M 7, Sul Ross State 0
Pitching: (W) Hold Emilee Boyer (13-1); (L) Alyvia Quintana (1-7)
Both teams would go scoreless in the first inning before WT broke the scoreless tie in the second inning. Boyer singled up the middle to start the inning where a one-out single from Moreno put runners on first and second. Halie Stoneking looked to move up the runners on a sacrifice, but an errant throw allowed a run to come in and Stoneking to advance to second. The Lady Buffs would add to their lead on Liskai's at bat when the sophomore outfielder singled to center field, scoring Stoneking and Moreno.

The 3-0 score would hold up until the top of the sixth inning. Boyer recorded her sixth hit of the day to start the frame, advancing to third on groundouts from Colborn and Moreno. With two outs, Stokes pinch-hit for the second time of the day where the freshman chopped a ball to short. The throw to first proved to be off the mark, allowing Stokes to reach and Boyer to score the fourth run for WT.

The Lady Buffs would put the game out of reach in the top of the seventh inning. With two outs, a double from Kendall Selitzky, walk from Boyer, and hit-by-pitch from Colborn loaded the bases. With one swing of the bat, Moreno brought home all three Lady Buffs on base with a three RBI triple into the left-center field gap.

With a 7-0 lead, Boyer went back out to the circle where the junior right-hander closed out her 13th win of the year, ending things with a strikeout.
