CANYON, Texas – On Wednesday, West Texas A&M men's basketball and head coach Tom Brown announced the signing of Bob Griechen for the 2024-25 season. Griechen comes to Canyon from Nagle Catholic College in Geraldton, Western Australia.

"Bob is a true blue collar guy who joined our program from a remote area in country Western Australia with the dream to play NCAA Basketball. He has the unique ability to guard 1 through 5 on the defensive end and is a matchup nightmare on offense because of his physicality and relentlessness on the glass. 
 
Bob is the Aussie recruit that every school wants to have on their team. Tough, high motor and relentless at both ends of the court. He plays so hard that coaches have no choice but to play him. I have no doubt he will be a fan favorite in Canyon, Texas for years to come."

"Bob is a competitor and winner. He will do whatever it takes to get the job done on and off the court. He is someone that you want to have on your team as he is a true team player. He has all the skills to be an excellent player for us right away next year. He will have to adopt to the college style of play, and I don't think that will be an issue. Bob is someone that I'm really excited about to see develop and flourish in our program."
 
Griechen joins a West Texas A&M program which is coming off back-to-back Lone Star Conference regular season titles. WT is also coming off another Elite Eight performance, its 4th in the past 8 seasons. The Buffs, led by three seniors in Larry Wise, Ryland Holt and Zach Toussaint, finished 30-5 overall and made the NCAA Division II Final Four.
