DALLAS – West Texas A&M women's soccer couldn't keep up with the No. 11-ranked Dallas Baptist Patriots on Saturday afternoon as the Lady Buffs fell, 6-0. WT falls to 6-6 overall and 3-4 in Lone Star Conference play while DBU improves to 8-0-3 overall and 5-0-2 in league action.
The Patriots came off the opening kick with an aggressive attack, forcing a corner three and half minutes in. After a few passes, Joeli Benson flicked a header where
Reagan Heelan slowed the pace with a surehanded save. DBU regrouped after the save to push back into the WT 18-yard box. As McKenna Vela approached the end line, the Patriots defender found an open Angelina Olmos who finished the ball in the back of the net. DBU doubled its lead in the 11
th minute as a Taylor Tufts corner moved on by Parker Coe went to the foot of Anne Louthan for a second goal. The Patriots added to their lead once again in the 25
th minute as a foul led to a free kick 20-yards out. After assisting on the previous goal, Tufts placed the ball in the top corner for a goal. In the 35
th minute, a free kick off the foot of Elise Borders went to Sophia Schrock who flicked a header into the back side of the goal for a 4-0 lead. The first scoring chance for the Lady Buffs came in the 39

After a halftime, the Lady Buff defense slowed the pace of the game and kept the Patriots from stringing together attacks. DBU broke through once again in the 54
th minute as a corner kick bounced around the box before a failed clearance went to Olmos outside the box. Olmos took a touch before burying her shot into the goal. The Patriots continued to add on their lead as Vela connected with Tufts for a goal in the 64
th minute. As the game went under three minutes to play,
Madison Stokes nearly broke up the shutout as the Amarillo, Texas found enough space to rip a shot. Stokes beat the goalkeeper, but her shot floated just over the bar.
WT remains on the road on Wednesday, Oct. 23 with the women's Rivalry on the Range match against Lubbock Christian. Action between the Lady Buffs and the Lady Chaps is scheduled to kickoff at 5 p.m. at the LCU Soccer Facility in Lubbock.
