CANYON, Texas – The Buffaloes of West Texas A&M took a 5-3 lead to the bottom of the eight on Monday afternoon at Irwin Field but three runs in the frame including a pair with two outs by the UT Tyler Patriots clinched a Lone Star Conference sweep in Tyler, Texas.

The Patriots jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning as Austin Ochoa singled to left field with one out to drive in Jordan Gochenour followed by an Ethan Bedgood sacrifice fly to right to make it 2-0. UTT added to their lead in the home half of the second as Carson Cox scored on a wild pitch for the 3-0 lead.

The Buffs cut into the lead in the top of the fourth with two outs as Eddy Savoie doubled to the gap in left center to drive in Will Fuenning to make it 3-1.

WT used the long ball to tie up the game in the sixth as Adam Becker started off the frame with a double to the wall in right center followed by a Kory Schmidt two-run blast to left. The Buffs took their first lead later in the frame as Fuenning scored from third on a wild pitch for the 4-3 lead.

The Buffs added to their lead in the top of the seventh inning as Fuenning singled to left with two outs to drive in Becker for the 5-3 advantage. Tyler responded in the bottom of the eighth as Gochenour grounded out to first with one out to plate Riley Lambert on a fielder's choice followed by a Kaston Mason RBI double off of the right field wall and a Lane Hutchinson single to center for the 6-5 lead.

Reese Miller picked up the loss (2-2) for the Buffs, allowing three earned runs on 10 hits with no walks and five strikeouts in his 6.1 innings of work.
