Himeur and the Lady Buffs Top the #20 Belles on Alumni Day, 80-64

CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M's Azia Himeur scored a career-high 23 points on Saturday afternoon as the Lady Buffs picked up a huge 80-64 Lone Star Conference divisional victory over the #20 Belles of Angelo State in front of 1,100 fans at the First United Bank Center in Canyon, Texas.
 
The sophomore from Albuquerque finished the game going 7-of-14 from the floor including 4-of-9 from behind the arc and a perfect 5-of-5 from the free throw line for a career-high 23 points to go along with four rebounds and two assists. Lauren Taylor chipped in 17 points followed by Karley Motschenbacher with 15 to go along with 17 rebounds which ties for the fourth most in a single-game in WT history.
 
The Lady Buffs finished the afternoon going 25-of-64 (39.1%) from the floor including 8-of-27 (29.6%) from deep and 22-of-27 (81.5%) from the free throw line to go along with 48 rebounds (13 offensive, 35 defensive), eight assists, 15 turnovers, four blocks and four steals.
 
The Belles were led offensively by Madeline Stephens as the sophomore from Lubbock went 5-of-17 from the field including 3-of-5 from behind the arc and 5-of-7 from the free throw line for a team-high 20 points to go along with 10 rebounds for a double-double. ASU went 23-of-70 (32.9%) from the floor including 5-of-22 (22.7%) from deep and 13-of-17 (76.5%) from the free throw line with 39 rebounds (11 offensive, 28 defensive), 10 assists, 13 turnovers, three blocks and eight steals.
 
The Lady Buffs return to action on Thursday night as they head to Portales, New Mexico to take on the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds in LSC action with tipoff set for 6:!5 p.m. CT at Greyhound Arena.
