Strong Second Half Leads Buffs to Victory

SHAWNEE, Okla. – The West Texas A&M men's basketball team outscored the Bison of Oklahoma Baptist 42-25 in the second half to steal an 80-62 victory in hostile territory. The Buffs return to win column and move to 4-1 on the season while the Bison drop to 2-3 on the year.

The Leaders
Brock Mishak scored a team-high 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting including 4-of-6 from deep. Noah Pagotto notched his first collegiate double-double against Oklahoma Baptist. Pagotto scored 15 points while bringing in a game-high 10 rebounds. Larry Wise and Kieran Elliott also reached double figures with 14 and 10 points respectively.

How It Happened
A pair of threes by Elliott opened the scoring for the Buffs before the Bison took a slim advantage. With the game being tightly contested, WT went on a short 7-0 run to take a four-point lead over Oklahoma Baptist. Once again, the Bison cut down the lead with a minute to play to bring the game within one. After the Bison took a lead of their own with 43 seconds left in the half, Elliott made a jumper of his own to regain the advantage for the Buffs.

After the two teams exchanged buckets to start the second half, WT rattled off an 11-4 streak to gain its largest advantage of the evening. As the Buffs started to heat up from the field, the Bison started to cool off helped in part by WT's offensive rebounding. The Buffs closed out the game in the final minutes to take the victory.
