CANYON, Texas – The defending Lone Star Conference Champion Rams of Angelo State registered 513 yards of total offense with 396 of those coming on the ground on Saturday night in a 27-10 LSC victory over the West Texas A&M Buffaloes in front of almost 5,000 fans at Bain-Schaeffer Buffalo Stadium on Senior Night.

The Rams took advantage of a Buffalo fumble early in the first quarter as Alfred Grear found a hole and took it 46 yards into the endzone for a 7-0 lead. ASU looked to add to their lead on their next drive as a long rush by Kason Philips setup the Rams inside of the red-zone but the Buffs would make a stop on fourth down to keep it 7-0.

WT took their turn with a short field on a special team mistake as
Preston Steszewski forced a fumble recovered by
Michael Arceneaux II to setup a 40-yard field goal by
Preston Gregg to make it 7-3. The Rams responded on their next drive as a four-down conversion in WT territory setup an eight-yard touchdown pass from Gerald Gardner to Philips to make it 14-3.

The Buffs came up with another takeaway as Steszewski forced his second fumble on the night as the Rams were marching down the field,
Antonio Iwuagwu jumped on the loose ball to give WT the ball but the Buffs went three-and-out on offense to force another
Seth Ford punt as he pinned the Rams deep in their own territory with four minutes left. ASU looked to add to their lead but an
Ashton Reynolds sack on third down kept the Rams off of the scoreboard as we headed into the locker room at 14-3.

Angelo used the ground game to add to their lead in the third as Philips picked up 46 yards up the middle to setup a 26-yard field goal by Brad Larson to make it 17-3. The Buffs found some life on offense on their next drive as they marched inside of ASU territory before a Rams interception on fourth and short to setup an ASU drive capped off by a 19-yard rushing touchdown by Chad Pharies to make it 24-3.

The Rams would add to their lead early in the fourth quarter as another Buffalo interception started an eight play drive finished off by a 25-yard field goal from Larson to extend the lead to 27-3. WT wouldn't go down without a fight as
Ben McCreary broke loose for a 71-yard touchdown with less than a minute on the clock.

Kyle Brown finished the game completing 8-of-25 passes for 50 yards with no touchdowns and a pair of interceptions to go along with five carries for 27 yards on the ground.
Tyler Sweet caught a team-high three passes for 37 yards followed by
Noah Bogardus with a pair of grabs for eight yards.

Defensively,
JT Cavender led the way with 16 total tackles (six solo) followed by Steszewski with 13 tackles (11 solo) to go along with a pair of forced fumbles.Â

The Buffaloes of West Texas A&M close out their season on Saturday afternoon as they make their way down Highway 60 for the 35th Wagon Wheel Game against the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds with kickoff set for 1:00 p.m. CT in Portales.
