West Texas A&M Football Announces Their 2023 Schedule

CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Buffaloes and first year head coach Josh Lynn will play six home games inside of Bain-Schaeffer Buffalo Stadium this upcoming fall as the 2023 WT Football schedule was announced on Thursday morning. 
 
WT will welcome Lone Star Conference opponents Midwestern State, Western Oregon, Western New Mexico, Angelo State and Simon Fraser to Canyon along with non-conference opponent Adams State. The Buffs will be on the road against Western Colorado, UT Permian Basin, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Central Washington and Eastern New Mexico.
 
The Buffs open the 2023 campaign on Saturday, September 2nd in Gunnison, Colorado against Western Colorado. The Mountaineers finished the 2022 campaign with an overall record of 7-4 with a 7-2 mark in RMAC action. The contest will mark the first game played inside of the newly renovated Mountaineer Bowl.
 
Adams State makes their way to Canyon for WT's home opener on September 9th. The Grizzlies finished the 2022 campaign with an overall mark of 2-9 under head coach Jarrell Harrison. The Buffs begin Lone Star Conference play at home against Midwestern State on September 16th as the Mustangs went 6-5 last season under long-time head coach Bill Maskill.
 
WT heads to Odessa on September 23rd to take on the UT Permian Basin Falcons led by first year head coach Kris McCullough, UTPB finished the 2022 campaign with a record of 5-6 with a 4-5 mark in LSC action. Western Oregon makes their way to Canyon on September 30th as the Wolves are coming off a 6-5 campaign a year ago.
 
The Buffs hit the road for South Texas on October 7th as they take on the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas, Mike Salinas guided TAMUK to a mark of 7-5 last season. WT welcomes Western New Mexico to Bain-Schaeffer Buffalo Stadium for Homecoming on October 14th, the Mustangs finished the 2022 campaign with a record of 6-5.
 
WT heads to Ellensburg, Washington on October 21st to take on the Wildcats of Central Washington, head coach Chris Fisk enters his fifth season at CWU in 2023 as he led the Wildcats to a mark of 6-4 a year ago. Defending Lone Star Conference Champion Angelo State comes to Canyon on October 28th as Jeff Girsch and the Rams went 12-1 in 2022 with a trip to the third round of the NCAA Playoffs.
 
The Wagon Wheel will be on the line on November 4th as the Buffs make their way to Portales, New Mexico to take on the Greyhounds, Kelly Lee returns to ENMU for his second stint as head coach as the Hounds went 3-8 a year ago. WT closes out the regular season on November 14th at home against Simon Fraser on Senior Day, the Red Leafs are led by head coach Mike Rigell who led SFU to a 1-9 mark last season.
