How It Happened
Unlike Thursday's win over Western New Mexico, the offense started right away for the Buffs as WT used a 9-0 run to lead 16-6 at the first media timeout. As the first half went on, the Buffs held off multiple Greyhound attacks. WT extended their lead to 18 with 2:24 remaining before halftime, but a 5-0 ENMU run to end the half cut the Buffs' advantage down to 13. At the break, WT shot 58.1 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from deep while Eastern New Mexico shot 35.1 percent and 46.2 percent, respectively.
The Buffs and Greyhounds exchanged buckets to open the second half. Determined to cut down the WT lead, ENMU pushed the pace of play, raising the intensity inside the First United Bank Center. When the Greyhounds looked to be closing in, the Buffs answered back. Eastern New Mexico brought the game within four with under six minutes to play. With four and a half to go, Toussaint made a jumper and converted the and-one, pushing the WT lead to 10.
Through the remaining three minutes, the Buffs answered Greyhound buckets with knocked down free throws. A free throw by Brown with 50 seconds left pushed WT to the century mark, the 143
rd 100-point game in program history. The Buffs capped off the win with an emphatic dunk by Wallace with 26 seconds to play as WT went on to win 108-97.
