ALAMOSA, Colorado – The #23 West Texas A&M Buffaloes headed home from their first road trip of the season with a 34-19 victory over the Adams State Grizzlies at Rex Stadium in Alamosa, Colorado in front of 1,543 fans on Saturday night.
 
The Grizzlies started off the scoring on their first possession of the game as they marched 12 plays on 48 yards capped off by a 23-yard field goal by Zachary Survillas for the 3-0 lead. The Buffs answered with an 81-yard drive of their own on 12 plays as Isaiah Smallwood found the endzone for the third time this season from two yards out for the 7-3 lead.
 
Gage Urias added to the WT lead with a 20-yard field goal at the end of the first quarter. Noah Bogardus snagged his second scoring catch of the season in the second as Nick Gerber found the senior on a seven yard pass for the 17-3 lead. ASU cut into the lead with a 41-yard field goal attempt by Survallis to make it 17-6. The Buffs would drive down the field on their final possession of the half as Urias hit from 40 yards out for the 20-6 lead heading into the locker room.
 
The Buffs added to their lead on WT's first drive of the second half as Shakell Brown capped a 75 yard drive on 13 plays with a one-yard scoring rush for the 27-6 lead. The Grizzlies registered their first touchdown of the night on ASU's next drive as Xvavier Crawford rushed for a five yard score to cut the lead to 27-12.
 
ASU made it a game early in the fourth quarter as Shammah Luani found the endzone from one yard out to cut the lead to 27-19. The Buffs added to their lead as Brown registered another rushing touchdown, this time from one yard out and 5:12 left for the 34-19 advantage.
 
Gerber finished the night going 26-of-42 for 224 yards and one touchdown. Brian Okoye led the Buffs with 75 yards on 11 carries while Kris Sims and Jarrod Compton combined for eight catches and 43 yards. Compton tied a team-high four catches out of the backfield for 27 yards.
 
Defensively, Christopher Thomas registered double-digit tackles for the second straight week as the senior had a team-leading 10 tackles (five solo, five assisted) followed by Ty Dillon and Sign Shuva with nine each. Carson Otworth tallied five tackles to go along with a forced fumble and two breakups with Preston Steszewski snagging his second interception of the season.
