GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Buccaneers of Barry capitalized on a passed ball in the seventh inning leading to a walkoff single that secured a 4-3 victory as they topped the No. 4 Lady Buffs on Sunday morning.  West Texas A&M moves to 1-2 on the season while the Bucs advance to 3-1. Â

After a scoreless first inning, the Lady Buffs took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second as
Braeland Booth hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield to score pinch runner
Malaya Delfin from third.  The lead was short lived as the Bucs immediately responded with three runs with the help of Cassandra Lee's bases clearing homer down the right field line to make it 3-1.Â

Diana Murtha brought the score within one as the junior doubled down the left field line before scoring from second on
Julie Guzman's double.  The Lady Buffs leveled the score in the fifth inning as
Brittni Rufus hit a triple into right field before scoring on an error by the second baseman. Â

The Bucs held WT over the next two innings before BU's Payton Germer hit a double to lead off the bottom of the seventh.  A passed ball moved the runner to third until Courtney Chisolm singled up the middle to bring in the deciding run. Â

Maci Barnhart (2-0) was awarded the victory allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits with four strikeouts and one walk through seven complete innings. Â
Heidi Vortherms was credited her first loss of the season allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits with three strikeouts and a walk.

Guzman and Rufus led the Lady Buffs offense with each collecting a pair of hits while Guzman and
Sydney Greeson each earned an RBI.Â

The Lady Buffs will head down I-27 for the Visit Lubbock Collegiate Classic hosted by Lubbock Christian, on Feb. 11-13, where they will take on Chadron State, Fort Lewis, Colorado Christian, Colorado School of Mines and UC-Colorado Springs.
