CANYON, Texas –The No. 9 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M look to defend their regional title as they compete in the NCAA Division II Volleyball South Central Regional Championship on Thursday afternoon when they take on the No. 7 seed UT Tyler with first serve set for 1 p.m. CT inside of the Auraria Event Center on the campus of MSU Denver in Denver, Colo.

SCOUTING UT TYLER
The Patriots head to the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season, entering as the No. 7 seed after finishing the regular season 20-9 and 12-4 in conference. UTT is led by seventh-year head coach Lyndsay Mashe who has led the program to rise as a top contender with an overall record of 128-49 and 64-30 since joining Division II in 2019.
Mikayla Ware, the LSC Player of the Year, leads the Patriots with 463 kills on 1,289 swings with 188 attack errors to hit .213, averaging 4.50 kills per set. Adeline Ortman has guided the offense with 742 assists (7.35/set) and a team-high 36 service aces. Savannah Guzman leads with 417 digs to average 4.05 per frame while Dakota Rogers-Hurtado has totaled 83.0 blocks.
THE SERIES
Thursday match will mark the eighth meeting between the two schools with WT leading the all-time series 5-2 and under head coach
Kendra Potts since its start in 2019. The Lady Buffs defeated the Patriots in straight sets in the LSC Semifinals to advance to the championship to lead the season series 2-1.
A WIN WOULD
A win on Thursday would advance the Lady Buffs to the semifinals where they will face the winner of No. 6 Colorado School of Mines and No. 3 Regis with the semifinal matches set for Friday, Nov. 18 at 6 and 8:30 p.m. CT while the championship match is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT on Saturday, Nov. 19.
A LOOK AT THE BRACKET
MSU Denver (28-1) claimed the top seed and will host the regional tournament followed by WT (27-4), Regis (22-7), DBU (25-6), Colorado Mesa (21-6), Colorado School of Mines (21-7), UT Tyler (20-9), and Colorado State-Pueblo (19-8) rounding out the eight region selections.
No. 2 WT will face No. 7 UT Tyler in the opening quarterfinal match on Thursday at 1 p.m. CT followed by No. 6 Colorado School of Mines versus No. 3 Regis at 3:30 p.m. No. 8 CSU-Pueblo meets No. 1 MSU Denver at 6 p.m., while No. 5 Colorado Mesa faces No. 4 DBU in the 8:30 p.m. match.
WE'VE BEEN HERE BEFORE
The Lady Buffs will make the program's 29
th NCAA Tournament appearance on Thursday, after securing the Lone Star Conference's automatic bid as the league's tournament champion. WT has recorded 14 regional tournament titles, producing a 52-25 overall record during the tournament.
ADDING TO THE RESUME
Junior
Torrey Miller and freshman Taytum Stow received specialty awards following the LSC's annual postseason banquet.
Miller was named the league's Offensive Player of the Year for the second time in her career as the Brownwood, Texas product recorded her 1,500
th kill in the LSC Championship match. She now ranks fifth in the WT all-time leaderboard with 1,501 kills while also earning Tournament MVP honors.
Stow was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Year after leading the league in blocks per set nearly every week this season. The freshman from Hereford, Texas ranks ninth in Division II in blocks per set at 1.23. In addition, Stow was also named to the All-Freshman team.
WT HEAD COACH KENDRA POTTS
Kendra Potts is in her fourth season at the helm of Lady Buff Volleyball with an overall 85-20 (.810) record and 53-10 (.841) in league play. Potts has guided the program to its second consecutive LSC Tournament Title and second under Potts including the Lady Buffs 17
th undefeated league schedule with a perfect 16-0 record. She led her alma mater to the program's 14
th NCAA Elite Eight Appearance after capturing the South Central Regional title last season to become the sixth head coach in program history to guide WT to the Elite Eight.
THE NUMBERS
WT is hitting .262 as a team which ranks second in the Lone Star Conference and 16
th in Division II while ranking eighth in the nation in blocks per set (2.50), 17
th in kills per set (13.99), 18
th in opponent hitting percentage (.133), 17
th assists per set (12.83) and 13
th in total blocks (260.0)
In the individual races, Taytum Stow ranks ninth in DII in blocks per set (1.23), and 29
th in total blocks (114.0) while

RMAC Champions MSU Denver sits atop the national rankings with a 28-1 overall record followed by Wayne State (29-2), Concordia-St. Paul (26-5), Alaska Anchorage (27-2), and Tampa (27-3). Additional programs from the South Central Region represented in the standings include WT (9

MAKE IT A DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Four players have recorded double-doubles this season with
Abi Nash,
Torrey Miller, Ainsley Malis, and
Blair Moreland totaling 17.
Torrey Miller leads the category with nine on the season which includes 147 kills and 118 digs. Malis is second with six followed by Nash and Moreland each with one.
THE LSC SHIP
The Lady Buffs swept their way to the program's 17
th Lone Star Conference Tournament title after defeating the No. 2 seed DBU Patriots. WT won nine straight sets in the tournament while
Kayla Elliott,
Abi Nash and
Torrey Miller named to the All-Tournament team while Miller was tabbed the Tournament MVP.
WT .348 in the championship match with 43 kills on 92 attempts with 11 errors to go along with 39 digs, 39 assists, eight blocks and six service aces while DBU had 39 kills on 103 swings with 17 errors to hit .214 with 36 digs, 37 assists, six blocks and three aces.
Miller led the Lady Buffs with 11 kills on 25 attempts to hit .320. Ainsley Malis paced the offense with 18 assists while
Blair Moreland had a match-high two aces. Bryli Contreras registered 13 digs to lead the back row while Emma Becker and Taytum Stow each produced four blocks.
