CANYON, Texas – The #10 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M tallied 20 runs in their doubleheader sweep over St. Edward's on Friday night at Schaeffer Park to improve to 20-6 overall (8-6 LSC) while the Hilltoppers fall to 8-10 (5-9 LSC).

The Lady Buffs opened scoring in the home half of the first scoring with four runs on four hits as
Shanna McBroom and
Ruby Salzman each tripled to start off the game with a 1-0 lead. After an RBI groundout, WT took advantage of a dropped fly ball to keep the momentum going before
Sydney Greeson and
Erica Vessels went back-to-back with doubles into right field to make it 4-0.
SEU jumped on the board in the third RBI double by Alexis Massie but was immediately responded with seven runs by the Lady Buffs.
Gabriella Valforte singled up the middle to drive in
Julie Guzman from second. With bases loaded
Madison Johnson hit a shot into right field to extend the Lady Buffs lead before
Steph Elliott's double put WT head 8-1. The Lady Buffs would bring three additional runs across the plate to secure the run-rule victory.
Salzmen went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead WT with three RBI while Elliott and Valforte each had two.
Kyra Lair (10-4) was rewarded the victory on the mound allowing one earned run on five hits with five strikeouts while
Halle Lytal threw the final inning with two walks and one strikeout.

St. Edward's led of the game with a 1-0 lead as Kaylee McQuillan dropped a single into center field before scoring on a double by Valerie Brant.
Ruby Salzman continued her hit streak as the sophomore hit a double off the center field fence before scoring on a throwing error by the catcher to level the score at one.
The Lady Buffs took charge of the game in the second as
Hailey Neira laid down a bunt for a base hit before
Shanna McBroom hit a single into left field to score pinch runner
Malaya Delfin and Neira. Salzman would hit the third straight single to bring
Julie Guzman to the plate with a 4-1 lead. The California product hit a two-run missile into left center for her second career home run to extend WT's lead to five.
After adding another run to the board, the Lady Buffs led 7-1 headed into the bottom of the sixth. After
Madison Johnson walked, Neira dropped a single just over the shortstops head to put runners into scoring position to bring up the top of the order. McBroom secured the sweep as the senior catcher hit a bases clearing triple into right center to move the Lady Buffs win streak to five.
WT outhit the Hilltoppers 8-6 as three Lady Buffs recorded two hits led by McBroom with a season high four RBI.
Emilee Wilson improved to 7-2 on the season as the sophomore allowed one earned run on three hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
