LAREDO, Texas – No. 18 West Texas A&M saw a series spilt down in Laredo as they fell to Texas A&M International 4-1 before shutting out the Dustdevils 7-0 in game two. The Lady Buffs move to 4-6 in Lone Star Conference play (16-6 overall), while TAMIU is 6-4 in conference (11-8 overall).

Texas A&M International opened scoring in the home half of the first inning with an RBI single by Victoria Gonzalez to put the Dustdevils ahead 1-0. The Lady Buffs evened the score as
Alyx Cordell hit a double into centerfield before scoring on a single by
Steph Elliott.
TAMIU took control of the game as junior Briana Arredondo drove the ball deep and out into left field for a three-run homer to make it 3-1. The Lady Buffs went down 1-2-3 for the Dustdevils to take game one of the two-game series.
The Dustdevils outhit WT 7-3 as Elliott, Cordell and
Hailey Neira each tallied one hit for the Lady Buffs.
Kyra Lair (9-4) was credited the loss allowing four runs (four earned) with four strikeouts while Erika Cortez (6-4) earned the victory allowing one earned run with one walk and five strikeouts.

The Lady Buffs found their stride as they rallied seven runs on ten hits to take hold of game two.
Shanna McBroom led off the game with an infield single before stealing second to get into scoring position. The senior catcher would score as she stole home after moving to third on an error by the shortstop before doubling the lead in the second with an RBI single down the left field line to make it 2-0.
At the top of the fifth,
Sydney Greeson hit a single into left field to put a runner on base before scoring on a home run by
Gabriella Valforte. McBroom would show her power at the plate as she recorded her 33
rd career home run with a solo shot into left to make it 5-0.
The Lady Buffs continued to advance their lead as
Ruby Salzman reached on a Dustdevil error before scoring from second on a single by
Alyx Cordell. A sacrifice fly for Valforte would bring home Cordell for the Lady Buffs final run of the game.
Emilee Wilson (5-2) was rewarded the victory on the mound as the right-handed pitcher allowed just three hits with one walk and three strikeouts in seven innings.
